Historical-Poetic Subcorpus – an electronic database that allows, through a search system, to find texts of written monuments of the Kazakh people from the VI–XIX centuries and provides linguistic information about the ancient script of the Kazakh language, writing features, authors’ style, vocabulary, word usage, poetic structure, expressive mastery, style, and fixed expressions. The purpose of creating the Historical Poetic Subcorpus is to preserve the literary and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and to provide future generations with easy access to historical poetic written texts, as well as to create conditions for comparing and studying the features of poetic structures in historical works. Currently, at the initial stage of development of the historical-poetic subcorpus, the database includes old Kazakh poetic texts of the XV–XIX centuries, including poetic samples of oral literature (narrative dastans, religious dastans, heroic epics, love epics, heroic poems, aitys, didactic poems, etc.). Most of them were written in Arabic script and are preserved in the collections of rare manuscripts in the country. At present, about 60 manuscripts of poetic samples of oral literature, both in original and transliterated versions, have been included in the historical subcorpus database, metadata has been created, and features of poetic annotation have been presented. In the future, the subcorpus database will continue to expand. The total volume is 148,564 word usages.
