Modern Poetry Corpus is an electronic database that enables the retrieval of oral and written texts of contemporary Kazakh poets through a search system, provides relevant information, and demonstrates the distinctive features of poetic structure in each poet’s works. The purpose of creating the Modern Poetry Subcorpus is to preserve poets’ works and to facilitate easy access to them for future generations, as well as to create conditions for comparing and studying the structural characteristics of poetic texts produced by individual poets. At present, the poetic subcorpus database includes works by Abai Qunanbaiuly, Shakarim Qudaiberdiuly, Ilyas Zhansugirov, Saken Seifullin, Qasym Amanzholov, Zhuban Moldagaliev, Abdilda Tazhibaev, Dikhan Abilov, Mukagali Makatayev, Mukhtar Shakhanov, Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov, Abish Kekilbayev, Taiyr Zharokov, Isa Baizakov, and other poets. Currently, the subcorpus database contains written and audio versions of texts comprising approximately 300,000 word usages; these materials have been meta-annotated and their prosodic features have been identified. In the future, the subcorpus database will continue to expand.
